Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapeutic approach that helps the brain process distressing memories, beliefs, and sensations that may be contributing to current anxiety, stress, or stuck patterns. Instead of talking in detail about the painful experience, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements, tapping, or sound—to activate both sides of the brain while you focus briefly on a memory or feeling. This helps the brain reprocess the experience so it becomes less emotionally charged and more integrated, allowing you to move forward with greater clarity and ease.
How I can use EMDR in therapy to support your goals:
In our work together, EMDR can help you reduce the intensity of past experiences that continue to affect your emotions or reactions today. I will guide you step-by-step through a structured process that begins with building safety, grounding skills, and emotional regulation. Once you feel prepared, we’ll identify specific memories, thoughts, or patterns connected to your current goals. Using EMDR reprocessing, we can help your brain shift from distress or self-limiting beliefs toward more adaptive, resilient ones. Throughout the process, I’ll help you stay present, supported, and in control so that EMDR becomes a tool you can use to relieve symptoms, gain insight, and create lasting change.
